Hello Sandalwood School Community, the BEST Community in Baltimore County!

Our SY 17 School Progress Plan has been approved by our Executive Director and is now available for your review.  In our plan, we have identified specific areas in Reading, Math and, school climate which we will focus on improving this year. We will update you on our progress toward meeting our goals throughout the year.

Updated 11/1/16
    • November Already! It’s hard to believe, but the first Quarter has officially come to a close!  Our staff and students have done an amazing job of teaching and learning over the first few months of school! Quarter 2 will be a time to move more rapidly with the academic content, as all students should be very familiar with our Code of Conduct and high expectations for behavior.  We want to thank all of our parents for their continued support in reinforcing the importance of daily attendance, respectful behavior, and academic excellence with their children every day!
    • Come to Math Night, Thursday November 10, 5:00-6:30pm.  This year’s theme for Math Night is Mathball (Football)!  We encourage all our guests to wear the colors of their favorite team!  (We expect to see a lot of PURPLE!)  We will be continuing our “family friendly” model and all activities will be open to all ages and you will be able to choose activities. This way, the whole family can participate in the fun math learning activities together!  Food will be served for all attendees.  The doors will open at 5pm!  Hope to see your family here!
    • Quarter 1 Report Cards.  Report Cards will be sent home with all students in grades 1-5 on Thursday November 10th, 2016.  There will be No School for Students on Friday November 11 so that parents can come in and conference with teachers.  Please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a conference to review your child’s progress through the first quarter.  Our Quarter 1 Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday November 22.
    • We will be celebrating American Education Week from Monday November 14th through Friday November 18th!  This is a great time to come out and visit with your child at school to see the amazing learning that is taking place!  Classroom visitations can take place anytime during the week to accommodate your schedules, but we encourage parents to visit on the scheduled days whenever possible due to the large number of students currently enrolled at Sandalwood.  To reduce the amount of distractions in the classrooms and to ensure that optimal instruction is observed by all guests, we ask that parents and guests come without young children and strollers.  All guests must sign in in the Main Office before visiting.  Please make sure you bring your photo ID.  A list of specific activities will be shared soon.
    • School Closed on Tuesday November 8 for Election Day.
    • School Closed on Thursday November 24 and Friday November 25 for Thanksgiving Break.
    • Tuesday November 29- School Picture Make-Up Day
  • Purple Friday- Support the hometown Baltimore Ravens by wearing PURPLE every Friday during football season.

Our doors open for breakfast ten minutes earlier, so parents can drop off their child at 8:35 am.  Students eat breakfast upon arrival and we start our instructional day promptly at 8:45 am.  Students arriving after 8:45am are marked late. There is no change to our dismissal time, which will remain 3:15 pm.
