Hello Sandalwood School Community, the BEST Community in Baltimore County!

Our SY 17 School Progress Plan has been approved by our Executive Director and is now available for your review.  In our plan, we have identified specific areas in Reading, Math and, school climate which we will focus on improving this year. We will update you on our progress toward meeting our goals throughout the year.

  • Interim Reports- Students in danger of failing, or currently underperforming, will receive interim reports on Tuesday October 4.  For a full picture of your child’s performance, please log into www.BCPSOne.bcps.org or visit us here at Sandalwood. If you have questions about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher by e-mailing or calling 410-887-0174. We look forward to seeing you at our parent conferences on Friday, November 11, 2016. Please sign and return Interims by Friday October 7.

  • Bullying Prevention Week- The first week in October is BCPS Bullying Prevention Week.  Each day, students will be learning about ways to help stop bullying at our school and how to deal with bullying.  To help promote a positive school climate, we will be asking our students to wear different colors each day during Bullying Prevention Week to promote different positive character traits.  The Character traits and colors are:

    • Tuesday October 4- wear Green for Equity!

    • Wednesday October 5- wear Yellow for Empathy!

    • Thursday October 6- wear Red for Respect!

    • Friday October 7- wear Purple for Positivity!

  • Free Pizza! Teachers will be handing out Pizza Hut “Book It” forms and information this month.  Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes daily and record their reading on their reading log.  Students that meet their class goal at the end of the month will receive a coupon for a free pizza and Pizza Hut!

  • Math Homework Helpers TV Show- This LIVE show begins Wednesday, October 5th at 4:30- 5:30pm on BCPS TV, (Comcast channel 73 or Verizon channel 34) .  Our students can call in and get help with their math homework.  They have fantastic teachers and a CRAZY puppet ready to help! EVERY caller will win a prize and have the opportunity to spin the prize wheel for a bonus prize! So, if you need help with your math homework, CALL IN, SPIN, and WIN every Wednesday starting October 5.  The phone number to call is 410-494-1459.

  • Parent Workshop on the new BCPS Grading and Homework policy.  We invite all of our parents to attend a Parents Only Information Session about Baltimore County’s new homework and grading policy on Tuesday, October 11 at 6PM in our Cafeteria. Light refreshments will be served.  Please RSVP by Friday October 7.

  • Fall Picture Day will be held on Thursday October 13.  Look for order forms this week for individual portraits.  Class pictures will be taken in the spring.

  • Fall Costume Parade- Our annual Fall Costume Parade and celebration will be held on Monday October 31.  More details will be coming soon!

  • Purple Friday- Support the hometown Baltimore Ravens by wearing PURPLE every Friday during football season.


    Our doors open for breakfast ten minutes earlier, so parents can drop off their child at 8:35 am.  Students eat breakfast upon arrival and we start our instructional day promptly at 8:45 am.  Students arriving after 8:45am are marked late. There is no change to our dismissal time, which will remain 3:15 pm.
